The Budget Cleanser Victoria Beckham’s Dermatologist Loves Is Definitely In Your Shower

And if it isn't, it should be

Consider this an ode to one of the most criminally underrated skincare products on the market: the humble Cetaphil.

The simple face/body wash your mum most likely bought you was probably left to languish on the shelf as you dabbled in more luxurious-looking cleansers with a cult following and a price tag to make your eyes water (which, for the record, your trusty Cetaphil would never do).

And yet, dermatologists and paediatricians have long stuck by it (funny, they don’t seem to be as swayed by pretty packaging as we are..). Why do they love it? Because not only is Cetaphil pH-balanced (a must for any cleanser), it’s also gentle enough for sensitive skin, non-comedogenic (so it won’t block pores), free of fragrance and hydrating to boot. Added bonus: it’s under $20.

Although it’s always had a place on marie claire’s list of favourite cleansers, Cetaphil is now finally being granted its time to shine, care of dermatologist Dr Harold Lancer. Dr Lancer treats Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Michelle Williams and even – wait for it – Beyoncé, so it’s safe to assume he knows his stuff.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Dr Lancer named Cetaphil as “an affordable dupe for his $US135 three-step Lancer method,” Stylecaster reports.

“The best thing is to use a small cotton washcloth, some plain, low-astringent liquid cleanser, warm water, your hands and just rub a dub scrub,” he said.

So simple, it’s perfect.
