As any manicure-lover will attest, there’s an art to the perfect mani.
And no one knows this better than Sydney-based nail artist Maria Vlezko of SoNailicious, who takes manicures to the next level.
From Koala-themed nail art to marbled designs and graphic runway-inspired patterns, Maria’s nail art is bold and creative.
The Russian-born nail artist and blogger shares her four biggest tips below. To see her work in action, walk the time lapse video below.
1# Don’t rush. Take your time when doing your nails, and make sure each layer dries properly before you apply the next one. The same applies for creating patterns, do it slowly and focus on your line work. It’s always better to get it right than trying to correct later, particularly when working with nail polish. With gel you can always correct your mistake, with nail polish not so much.
2# Do clean up. Use a angled nail art brush (or eye brow makeup brush) soaked in acetone to clean up around cuticles, so your manicure looks absolutely flawless.
3# Do use a good quality top coat. ALWAYS, ALWAYS finish your manicure with a great quality top coat to get that glossy salon-like look and to smooth out the layers of nail art. Plus, a good top coat will speed up the drying process, even through four layers of nail art and make your manicure last longer.
4# Don’t give up. Even if a particular pattern or nail art technique isn’t happening for you right now, keep practicing and eventually you’ll perfect it.
