The Subtle Hair Update Perfect For Brunettes This Winter

Trade in your blah brunette shade for something sunnier

Summer hair is all about sun-kissed highlights and lighter locks, which let’s be honest, is a lot more fun than the darker shades of winter. Paired with a wardrobe full of black, greys and neutrals, it’s no wonder we long for warmer days.

But that’s where this new hair colour trend makes winter life more interesting. If you’re bored of your plain brunette hue, then call up your hairdresser and tell them you want in on the copper balayage trend.

A subtle way to refresh brunette hair, the trend – which L’Oréal Professionnel have coined Balayage Ambre – creates a dimensional, multi-tonal look for a wintery take on sun-kissed strands. And it’s a look we’ve been seeing pop up everywhere on our Instagram feed, with celebs like Olivia Culpo, Emily Ratajkowski and Snezana Wood all showing off warm amber ends.

marie claire’s Danielle Taylor also decided to give it a go, and we have to say, we’re officially hooked on the look.

“It was nice to mix it up (my hair has been the one colour for so long), but without going too drastic and still being able to keep the depth of my original chocolate brown at the roots,” says Danielle. “The subtle change of having the copper was a nice way of warming up my hair and complexion, especially in the winter months.”

To get the look, Danielle’s hairdresser, Kylie at Judena Hair in North Bondi, Sydney, added two warm tones from L’Oréal Professionnel’s new shade collection (chosen specifically to complement Danielle’s eye colour, skin tone and natural hair) throughout her hair to create a soft, harmonious balayage look.
