When Deciem launched their super affordable skincare line The Ordinary in 2015 they revolutionised the beauty industry. Suddenly, luxury, potent ingredients (that actually work) like retinoids and manual oil were available at budget-friendly prices. What’s more shocking than The Ordinary’s boundless lineup of under-$15 serums, oils, and moisturisers, is that brand has never released a face mask.
Until now, that is.

Thankfully, that’s going to change when The Ordinary launches the Salicylic Acid 2% Masque on May 29th. A clay-based formula which heroes the best pimple-busting ingredient around: Salicylic acid. A powerful BHA exfoliant that penetrates deep into pores and eliminates blackhead and pimple-causing oil and dirt.
Additionally, The Ordinary’s dark black mask contains purifying charcoal – embued with natural properties that act as a magnet, drawing impurities out.
What makes salicylic acid so effective?
Salicylic acid is a BHA or beta hydroxy acid. It’s a rapid, oil soluble chemical exfoliant (that means it doesn’t break down with water) so it can penetrate into deep into the pores of the skin.
It’s a popular ingredient that is used in facial cleansers, toners, exfoliators, pimple treatments and body washes. Targeting congestion and breakouts on the face and body. It’s also used in anti-ageing serums because of its ability to reveal softer, smoother looking skin.
The Masque is officially available to buy from the 29th May, and will be available from Deciem.com.
