Conversation around the cosmetic work of the celebrity set is louder than ever. From instagram accounts dedicated to before and after pics to the onslaught of critique that comes anytime an A-lister steps out looking slightly more snatched, itโs increasingly difficult to escape the pressures to look perfect and defy aging.
What often makes these unachievable standards worse is an unwillingness to talk about having said work done. Thankfully, there are celebrities like Drew Barrymore, who remind us that aging is a beautiful processโand one we should be okay discussing.
Drew Barrymore On Avoiding Plastic Surgery
During an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host and actress was asked by an audience member what her secret to aging gracefully was.
โI havenโt done anything and I want to try and stay that way,โ she told the crowd.
โBut I also am like, do whatever works for you. The only thing I do know is donโt judge other people because they do things differently. Weโre all on our own path and we have to support each other.โ She went on to add that she had insecurities, but was more focused on accepting them than trying to change them.
โI see a lot of turkey neck or I have a lot of other times where Iโm like โOh Wow, weโre there now.'โ
The Charlies Angels actress, now 50, is undeniably one of Hollywoodโs most beautiful stars, inside and out. She went on to tell her audience how important sheโs found it is to be kind to yourself, hinting that it is her secret to staying so youthful.
โI want to tell myself not to be so mean to myself. I cannot believe the first thing we say and do when we look in the mirror. How many beautiful moments do we even get the privilege of seeing our reflection and that person looking back at us is us?โ
โSo the kinder, more patient, more resilient, more loving, embracing, less dismissive that we can be, the better it is for our mental game and spiritual game, which affects the face,โ she said.

Itโs not the first time Barrymore has spoken about her resistance to going under the knife (or needle). In late 2023 she told People: โI have a highly addictive personality, so I worry Iโd continue to chase it, get this and that done.โ
โThat scares me, just because of my own approach to things. So, Iโm waiting on making any alterations.โ
She then added: โI look forward to seeing what I look like as a leather bag in the future!โ
