Every time an actor utterly transforms themselves for a role, their chances of receiving accolades come awards season tends to skyrocket (hello, Nicole Kidman in The Hours). Renée Zellweger is the latest star we’re struggling to recognise, thanks to the first image from her upcoming Judy Garland biopic, released today.

According to Variety, the film will focus on Garland’s arrival in London in the late ’60s for a series of sell-out concerts, shortly before her death. It will explore “the unfolding family drama” she was dealing with at the time, as well as her relationships with her fans and fellow musicians.
Michael Gambon, Finn Wittrock and Jessie Buckley star alongside Zellweger.
