Ouai’s new product is a Super Dry Shampoo, a heavy-duty dry shampoo specifically made for oily hair types. Because it’s centred around “heavy oil flow”, Ouai’s promotions are playing definitely into the period imagery. Unfortunately, you don’t get a box of free tampons with each purchase, but Ouai is doing something better instead.

In honour of this new product, Ouai is partnering with Period.org to help fight period poverty and to raise awareness around some of the barriers people face in accessing period products.

The haircare brand has donated $20,000 to PERIOD to help raise awareness and fight the stigma around periods. The US-based organisation was founded in 2014 by two 16-year old high school students who experienced homelessness as teenagers. They realised that the biggest challenge of their living situation was dealing with periods and not having access to period products. Since 2014, PERIOD has addressed over 700,000 periods and is now the largest youth-run women’s health non-profit.

“Our whole Super Dry campaign is tampon-themed because the dry shampoo reminds us of super tampons–it’s extra absorbent for oilier days, has an easy to use applicator, a wider can and our brand’s fresh Melrose Place scent,” Atkins told Glamour. “Plus, most women can relate to relying on super tampons and super dry shampoo to get them through a tough week.”

Like most dry shampoos, this Ouai’s Super Dry Shampoo helps to avoid problems caused by over washing and keeps your hair fresh for longer. This product is ideal to use between blowouts or when oils are making your hair look flat and greasy.

Unique ingredients like volcanic minerals and rice starch help to soak up excess oils and leaves your head feeling fresh and clean whilst adding a layer of texture. Plus, the dry shampoo is doused with Ouai’s famous Melrose Place scent, imbued with notes of rose, lychee, bergamot and white musk to make sure that your hair smells great too.

Unfortunately for us this product is not yet released in Australian stores, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for now.
