Ever since she stepped out wearing that groundbreaking messy bun to her first event of 2018 with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has opted for the chic hairstyle on many a royal occasion.
Granted, since tying the knot, the bun has at times been sleeker and more put together than her pre-Duchess days, but Meghan is determined not to let her new role change her signature style (especially when it comes to wearing pantsuits).
But the bun does more than just keep her hair off her face (and look effortlessly cool), it keeps Meghan’s hair perfect and smooth, ready to be let out into loose curls for any events she may have later that evening.
“With a full schedule of day and night events, there can’t be much time for Meghan to perform a full hair wash and restyle in between,” Byrdie reports.
“So, unlike a hair-denting ponytail or root-ruffling topknot, a low bun is like a form of damage control. Markle can wear one all day and then quickly unwind it – letting her loose waves fall beyond her shoulders, ready for the evening’s function.”
Genius.
