Pimple-fighting magic

No matter how much foundation or concealer you pile on top of your skin, there’s always that swollen, red bump underneath that doesn’t seem to disappear no matter how hard you try. Just when you thought all hope was lost, it turns out that there is, in fact, one life-saving treatment guaranteed to solve all of your breakout blues. Enter the Mario Badescu Spot Drying Lotion.

This cult-favourite treatment is everything one would expect it to be and better yet, it actually works. But don’t take our word for it. Celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Ashley Graham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are fans, so naturally, you know that it’s the real deal (it’s also one of Mecca’s top-selling skincare products). Eager to determine if Badescu’s award-winning lotion lived up the hype, we got our hands on some of the solutions and put it to the test.

What Is It?

Before we dive in any further, it’s important to note what exactly all the fuss is about. To put it simply, Badescu’s formula works to dry out the pimple along with it’s associated redness to have it disappear it by morning. Sounds simple, right? Its two key ingredients include salicylic acid and sulphur which penetrate the skin to clear dirt trapped in the pores. The addition of calamine also works to calm the skin and mitigate redness without further irritating the skin.

To Shake Or To Not Shake?

If you’ve done your research, you’ll know that one of the most frequently asked questions concerning the Drying Lotion is if you should or should not shake the lotion before applying it to your blemishes. And as tempting as it may be, Badescu advises to avoid shaking the bottle.
