She spoke to Complex magazine about her experiences with the cosmetic procedure, and opened up about why she felt it was a good idea to lie about it at the time.

The reason Kylie initially chose to get lip fillers was due to insecurities – she had been told she had thin lips, and this was something she never really forgot.

“This guy I kissed was like, ‘Your lips are really small but you’re a really good kisser. I didn’t think you were gonna be good at kissing.’ It was so rude. From then on, I just felt like I saw guys staring at my lips. I felt like no one wanted to kiss me.”

Initially, she lied about getting them done, however she has admitted that she regrets this due to the backlash.

“What if I came out and said, ‘Oh, yeah, I got my lips done’? What are all those moms going to think about me?” she said about the decision. “These kids, my fans, they’re going to think I’m crazy. I didn’t want to be a bad influence. I didn’t want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself. But they thought it was crazier that I was lying about it because it was so obvious. I wish I had just been honest and upfront.”

She admits that she became a little obsessed with changing her lips, and that she may have gone too far in the beginning.

“When you first get them done, you’re like, ‘Oh, it could be a little bit bigger on that side.’ I’d go back and be like, ‘They went down’ and think they could be bigger. But I went too far. It was very painful.”

But she is comfortable with her decision now.

“At the end of the day I have to live with everything I do. I’m just proud of myself for not going crazy.”

Top Things To Consider When Getting Lip Fillers

We spoke to the Director of Clinical Services at Total Face Group, Jane Fielding, to get an expert’s advice on lip fillers. She suggested these tips for women considering lip fillers:

– Choose a medical group/practice dedicated to the field of cosmetic medicine with highly experienced clinicians where both the doctors and nurses work together.

– Before having a treatment, make sure you have a consultation

– Consider the look you are after – a fuller or soft, natural lip?

Ms Fielding explained that though traditionally, lip fillers were targeted as an anti-ageing procedure, the 20 – 35 year old age group now makes up 35% of the market. Total Face Group conducted research of 500 women earlier this year that showed that women in the 20-29 age group were twice as likely to consider the procedure than other age groups. The no. 1 reason for having a cosmetic treatment was to ‘boost self-esteem and confidence’ closely followed by the desire to ‘look better’.

Ms Fielding suggested that much of this change in demographic has been influenced by trends on social media.
