Catherine, the Princess of Wales, is known for her classic approach to fashion and beauty, rarely straying from the stylishly modest look we all know and love her for. However, when she does change something about her iconic look, it’s impossible not to take notice.
This week, the royal has stepped out with a new, and unexpected hairstyle—debuting gorgeous, and very on trend, curtain bangs.
The royal debuted her new hairstyle at a Portage (a service which supports children with disabilities and special educational needs and their families) session for her ‘Shaping Us’ campaign on early childhood in England, where she stepped out in a red blazer, beige t-shirt, black pants and ballet flats.
The royal wore her brown hair in a stylish low bun with just the flattering curtain bang section of her hair left out at the front. For this look, she opted for soft, natural make-up and a pink lip.
It’s not the first time the royal has gone for bangs, she has modelled variations on the style a number of times over the years, including in 2012, 2013 and 2015. However, it has been a number of years since we have seen Kate opt for the style.
It also wasn’t simply in the hair department that Kate was on trend—the royal also embraced the colour of the season with her red blazer, as well as the ballet flat trend with her choice of shoe.
While curtain bangs have been around for a long time, they have really seen a surge of popularity in the last few years with everyone from Mandy Moore to Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez having given them ago. If Kate Middleton’s take on the popular style has convinced you to try them yourself then just remember that while they might look flattering on almost anyone, they aren’t always the easiest style to maintain.
Unless you’re committed to a daily blow dry, or like Kate, you have a professional to do it for you, then you might prefer a more low maintenance look. However, if that doesn’t worry you then you might want to save these pictures of Kate for your next visit to the salon.
