The unicorn trend has well and truly found its way into our beauty cupboards, with the arrival of Kat Von D’s Alchemist Holographic Palette.

Having already sent US Sephora shoppers into a frenzy, the four-shade eyeshadow kit (which has been a whopping seven years in the making) has landed in Australia, and retails for $50.

It’s not just for eyes though, the holographic effects can be applied over your lipstick for an amazing, pearl shine, or as highlighter on your cheekbones, collarbone, or Cupid’s bow.

The holographic effect has also made its way into hair salons, with this iridescent look flooding social media.

Seattle-based Ross Michaels Salon has been instrumental in creating the trend with their artists posting pics of all the iridescent locks. For the technique, the colorists look to Pravana Express Tones Violet, Pastels Luscious Lavender, and Blissful Blueaccompanied by celeb stylist favorite Olaplex, which bonds the hair during chemical processes to prevent breakage.

The range of holographic dye jobs spans from bold to barely there–but all magical nonetheless.
