Fenty Beauty has launched their foray into the world of bronzer with a generous range groundbreaking powders formulated to suit a diverse set of skin tones. Instead of a single shade made to somehow work on everyone, Rihanna is blessing us with an incredible eight shades of bronzer aptly named Sunstalker.
Rih has also developed the perfect cheek brush. Not just here to sweep across your face – the bristles dip in a U-Shape – hugging the contour of your cheek for that softly lit post-vacation glow without the fuss.
To celebrate Fenty Beauty’s new summer collection we sat down with Rihanna’s go-to make-up artist Hector Espinal. Oh, and did we mention, “Rihanna uses bronzer every single day – you can use it in multiple ways, eyes, cheeks, some people even use it on lips but that is a little bit advance.” So, trust us, when Hector is dolling out his highly coveted make-up tips – we’re listening.
If you only have ten minutes to get ready…
“Rihanna has a signature look: the Fenty face. It’s a matte base with some highlight, soft wash of bronzer on the lid and from there she adds colour depending on her mood or the look.
When you’re in a pinch, grab your concealer – it will create the illusion of eight hours of sleep – and is so crucial for bringing light to the face. Add warmth and dimension with bronzer and finish with a gloss or pop of lip colour to create that moment.”
Bronzer and contour are not one and the same
“When most people think of bronzer they think of contour, but bronzer is warm and contour is neutral. If you find that the finish is “muddy” then you’re using a contour shade to bronze up.
“Whether you’re warm or cool bronzer should have a red undertone to give you that youthful radiance.”
How do I know if I’m a warm or cool skin tone?
“Step one: Press down firmly on the underside of your forearm with two fingers.
Step two: Remove fingers and wait for the mark left from the pressure, if the colour has a yellow hue you’re a cool skin tone and if it’s pink you’re a warm skin tone.”
Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Collection and new Kilawatt shades are 100% cruelty-free and available now at Sephora.
