She’s barely into her 30s, but Australian model Elyse Taylor has already kicked the kind of life goals most women dream of for decades. Victoria’s Secret Angel wings tucked away in her wardrobe, she’s now living in New York, mum to four-year-old Lila and making a living modelling all around the globe.
Taylor also happens to be in possession of one of the best heads of hair (not to mention curtain bangs) we’ve ever seen. So naturally, when we were presented with the opportunity to interview the star, the conversation turned quickly to hair. Fitting, given Taylor has just been crowned a Pantene Pro-V ambassador. Read on for all her beauty secrets, plus her typical day on a plate (possibly the only thing we don’t envy her for).
What’s the best hair trick you’ve learnt in your work as a model?
I’ve definitely learnt the importance of finding the right products for my hair type. I have quite fine, coloured hair so I need to be really careful and use only products that I trust to ensure it stays as healthy and damage-free as possible.
Are there any beauty hacks you can share?
I always make sure to keep a sheet mask in the fridge so when I use it in the mornings it also helps with dark circles or fluid retention.
Is there anything in particular you do to maintain your blonde?
I always make sure to have my hair coloured once every six weeks. My colourist is Jenna Perry at White Rose collective in New York.
What are the hair products you swear by?
Pantene Pro-V Foam Conditioner Repair & Protect has become a staple in my daily routine. After shampooing, you apply all over the hair and it instantly leaves it your hair feeling conditioned, yet completely weightless – it’s incredible. It’s specifically for fine hair that tends to get greasy, so it’s actually completely eliminated the need for dry shampoo and all those extra voluminising products (I hate having product build up in my hair).
Can you talk us through your skincare routine?
In the morning I use an oil cleanser by CosMedix. I then use the Glossier Solution to tone and minimize my pores, Dr Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum, then the CosMedix eye cream followed by my CosMedix moisturiser. In the evenings, I switch out the Dr Sturm serum with a retinol.
Do you have any great budget beauty buys?
Sometimes if my skin tone is a little red or uneven, I do a DIY face mask of honey, spirulina and lemon.
Any facial treatments you swear by?
I always get my Christine Chin facial once a month. It really helps with keeping my skin clean and clear after all the work and flying.
Describe your day on a plate?
My day on a plate is always changing depending where I am in the world. If I’m home I will have oatmeal with Lila before she goes to school, then I’ll make a salad with some chicken or fish depending what’s in the kitchen. And something a little lighter for dinner. I never really like to eat heavy meals before dinner because it affects my sleep.
