The future of beauty is bright. โ€œI think beauty standards have changed a lot in the time since I was a teenager to now,โ€ model and actor Jessica Vander Leahy tells marie claire Australia. โ€œI try and keep that balance of, yes, beauty and aesthetics are really importantโ€”but you also need to have that perspective of the gift that is good skin.โ€

This shift reflects a deeper understanding of beautyโ€”one thatโ€™s grounded in nourishing skincare rituals, high-quality ingredients, and treatments that focus on long-term skin health. Leading the charge is cult beauty brand No7, with its powerhouse lineup of skin-loving and future-proof formulas.

Here, beauty insiders share the philosophies that guide them, the routines they swear by, and the trends set to define the future of skincare.

1. Hydration Is Key

For Sydney-born Leahy, her skincare routine revolves around one essential element: hydration. Whether itโ€™s through drinking plenty of water, using deeply nourishing serums, or locking in moisture with rich creams, keeping her skin hydrated is the key to maintaining a healthy, radiant glow year-round. Designed to reverse visible signs of skin damageโ€”including dehydrationโ€”the No7 Future Renew range is the perfect set to start with for healthier looking skin.

2. Less Is More

Skincare minimalism is having a moment, and for good reason. โ€œIn the past, I might have been a 12-step routine kind of girl, because I thought youโ€™d have to try everything,โ€ says author and actor Maria Thattil. Now, the focus is on efficacy over excess, prioritising smart, multi-tasking products that do more with less.

โ€œI love to see a product that can somewhat do it all. And that can maybe replace some of those extensive skincare routines,โ€ says dermatologist Dr Shreya Andric, whose own regimen is refreshingly simple. โ€œA cleanser, antioxidant, hydrating serum and sunscreen in the morning. Obviously double cleanse at night, and then I might use a retinoid or peptoid and then a moisturiser.โ€

The takeaway? Less really is moreโ€”especially when every step works hard for your skin.

3. Beauty Standards Are Changing

Beauty standards are evolving, and the conversation is shifting toward a more realistic approach. Perfection is outโ€”healthy, well-cared-for skin is in. โ€œA lot of our focus now is on skin quality and health,โ€ says Andric, noting that the latest products and treatments are designed to give skin the care it truly needs.

Sally Hunwick, marie claire Beauty Editor, agrees: โ€œThereโ€™s an intersection now between health and beauty, and we really want our skin to be as healthy as we can make it. Itโ€™s just a better version of ourselves.โ€

4. The Rise Of Science-Backed Ingredients

Science-backed ingredients offer higher-quality, advanced formulations, and real results. And like many beauty lovers, Thattil isnโ€™t just looking for great skincareโ€”she wants proof that it works.

โ€œWe want skincare that is backed by science. And thatโ€™s why I really love No7,โ€ Thattil says. โ€œTheyโ€™re not just innovative with their research, theyโ€™re pioneering. Theyโ€™re the first in the world to come up with this peptide proprietary technology. It is unique to them.

โ€œFor many people, that automatically engenders faith because they know what theyโ€™re doing and theyโ€™re educating everyone else along the way. And I think thatโ€™s really special.โ€

5. The Future Of Beauty Is Peptides

Speaking of peptide technology, Hunwick believes โ€œ2025 is going to be the year of peptides. The technology is really there and the delivery of the peptides has just become so much more advanced.โ€

So, what exactly are they? Dr Andric explains: โ€œPeptides are essentially short chains of amino acids. We can think of them as messengers in the skin. They are very small molecules, which gives them the ability to penetrate into the skin, and they help support the natural resilience and elasticity of the skin.โ€

No7โ€™s pepticology is a world-first blend of powerful peptides, designed to support the skinโ€™s natural self-repair process. The result is firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skinโ€”making pepticology the new, must-have ingredient in future-proof skincare.

6. Change Your Routine As You Age

As your skin changes over time, so should your skincare routine. The key? Knowing when to introduce targeted products that support skin health as it matures. Rather than waiting for visible signs of aging to take hold, the right formulas can help support skin before deeper lines set inโ€”keeping your glow going strong at every stage.

โ€œI think we should start introducing the No7 Future Renew range into our skincare once weโ€™re starting to notice some early signs of skin aging,โ€ says Dr Andric. โ€œThat could be things such as fine lines, wrinkles, or if the skin is looking overall a bit dull. Thatโ€™s the time to think about introducing these products to help improve the overall appearance and quality of the skin.โ€

As Hunwick says: โ€œWe donโ€™t want to change ourselves, necessarily. We just want to look great for our age, for who we are.โ€

7. Skincare As Self-Care

For actress Miranda Tapsell, skincare is more than just a beauty routineโ€”itโ€™s a moment to pause and reset. โ€œOften in my work, I am wearing lots of makeup. Thereโ€™s something extremely meditative in going, โ€˜Okay, thatโ€™s my day done. Clean slate now. Iโ€™m gonna have a new day tomorrowโ€™,โ€ Tapsell says. The future of beauty is more than just aesthetics, itโ€™s about feeling confident in your skin.
