Confession time: I’m a bit of a makeup hoarder. I’ve always loved makeup (I was a teen during Beauty Bloggers heyday) and still find immense joy in discovering a new glitzy eye shimmer or hardworking primer. The perfect pillowy-soft liquid lip? I’ll take one in every colour! A brow gel that delivers lamination-level hold? Three please! You get the picture..
But after spending a decade road-testing, collecting and curating my dream collection, my cupboard is full. Think less Sofia Coppola messy-chic and more back-cupboard-of-Sephora scary. So I’ve spent the better part of the last 4 months Marie Kondo-ing my space. I’ve culled my 100+ lipstick collection to a not-so-humble-but-still-an-improvement 40 and tossed out all foundations over 3 years old (please don’t tell my derm I was still using them). There’s a whole lot more room in my cupboard, but I’ve challenged myself to only bring home the products that give me joy and that I genuinely need. Honest Beauty’s balm is my ideal ratio of vibrant colour pay off and delicate sheerness giving really effortless results. It’s been a staple in my handbag for years, so I’m justifying a re-buy.

Estee Lauder SPF 10 Double Wear Stay Foundation

This is everything I look for in a foundation: it’s blurring, breathable, buildable and has serious staying power (rain, hail or sweat – it doesn’t budge). Big tick! It smooths over mild pigmentation and texture with ease and gives the skin a glowy (not too dewy), soft-focused finish. I’d liken it to an Insta filter, your skin but better!

Maybelline New York Sky High Mascara

There’s a reason demand for this mascara is so sky-high (sorry, couldn’t help myself). It’s the best drugstore mascara I’ve used and seriously rivals it’s luxe counterparts (think: Dior’s iconic Overcurl, and Too Faced’s Better Than Sex) The bristle applicator makes for close-to-lashline lift (and separates lashes nicely), while the formula itself contains volumizing fibres for doll-like length and fullness without clumping. This is one worth stockpiling!

Max Factor Miracle Pure Infused Cream Blush

Adds instant warmth and radiance! I love the texture of this formula, it’s like a silky serum but gloopier, and find it applies best with finger tips (aka commute-friendly). It’s dosed with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid and squalene, which gives the skin a luminous and healthy sheen. It’s fairly sheer but can be built up for a more intense flush of colour. I like to follow a blush-draping placement with tapping the product from my high cheekbones into the lower temple area.

L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics True Match Lumi Bronze It Bronzer

Nothing says ‘vacation’ or ‘I wish I was on vacation’ like a shimmering bronzer. This buttery soft powder formula reads a little more like a bronzer/highlighter hybrid then a traditional contour shade (so be careful with placement) and gives the complexion glowing dimension and warmth. I apply sweepingly on the outer edges of the face and trace across my décolletage and shoulders for a JLo-esque bronzed finish.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

An oldie but a goodie. This liner glides across the eyelid with ease (no pulling or snaggled bumps), leaving behind a deeply dark, laquered wing. It’s easy to use and once dried, will not budge. It’s seen me through fabulously long nights on the dance-floor and equally fabulous Taylor Swift-induced cries, and has not smudged or faltered. Seriously impressive.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick

This is one of my all-time favourite lip formulas. The colour payoff is pigmented, true to tone and tends to last for hours. I consistently reach for the shade Rum Raison, it’s the perfect brick-toned 90’s nude and is universally flattering (a marie claire office favourite!).

NYX Professional Plump Right Back Setting Spray

I’m relatively easy-going when it comes to setting spray – if it works, it works! I gravitate towards a glowy complexion, so I appreciate that this formula is brimming with electrolytes (hello hydration) and have found it works well in extending my makeup just that little bit longer.
