Bachelor In Paradise star Alex Nation is kicking off winter with a bold new look – taking to social media to debut her new copper hair.
Putting her own twist on Taylor Swift’s signature clapback, Alex unveiled her hair with the caption: “I’m sorry, the old Alex can’t come to the phone right now…”Alex credits Melbourne-based colourist Amber White (@amberwhitehairstylist) for creating her stunning new shade and hair stylist @Harlen_hair by Sharah for her sharp chin-length bob.
While bronde hair – in all its varied incarnations – was the hair colour of 2018, the new year is already shaping up to be all about copper hair.
We’ve already started seeing strawberry blonde and copper-toned tresses popping up all over social media and it’s the colour du jour of it-girls Lara Worthington, Zoey Deutch and Kate Bosworth. If you’re wary of looking “ranga” then it’s worth noting that copper isn’t simply red or orange hair. It’s a cool-toned multi-dimensional hue which makes blue eyes look brighter and gives skin an ever so subtle glow.
Additionally, Alex shared: “Hair that suits my personality. I had been feeling so stagnant these last few months even though things in my work and personal life were falling into place nicely. I just hadn’t been my usual bubbly self. Tired all the time and lacking drive, passion and motivation.
“Whoever said change is as good as a holiday, you were bloody spot on ✔️”
Looking after your hair this colour will require some serious maintenance, but luckily David Keough has given us some helpful tips. According to the John Frieda ambassador – who also works with Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr – “We all have different pigmentation in our hair, from copper to gold to red… so be very careful when it comes to lightening your hair as you will have to pass a certain level in the hair to get that great coppery tone. But really most of the time your hairstylist will use a semi-permanent to get the desired result. Like most colour tones they will all fade and need to be maintained by your hairstylist.”
“Always wait 48 hours before shampooing after the colour is first applied, allowing the colour to absorb. You will maintain a much deeper, rich colour by using a hair mask regularly. Make shine a priority with copper hair. Try to keep the water temperature within the lukewarm range when shampooing and conditioning your hair, which will ensure the colour is long lasting.”
