Dr Vincent Hurley is a university lecturer at Macquarie University specialising in the contemporary role of the police and policing within criminological theories. Previously, he spent 29 years in the New South Wales Police Force, where he experienced first-hand the impacts of domestic violence. Earlier this year, Hurley went viral in an emotionally-charged plea for urgent domestic violence action on ABC’s Q and A. The clip has now been viewed millions of times on social media.
