Anne Hathaway, New Fringe Owner, Is Giving Big Andy Sachs Energy At Fashion Week

'The Devil Wears Prada', but make it 2022.

Anne Hathaway is back in her peak naughties fashion era, but there’s no Y2K fashion in sight.

Indeed, shortly after Von Dutch truckers and low-rise jeans made their way to the streets, a not-so-little cultural fashion moment presented itself before our eyeballs: the Andy Sachs style evolution, à la 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada

The movie gave us a whole new perspective on style— from cerulean blue jumpers to that It Girl fringe. And while millions have recreated the timeless looks over the years, none were more influenced by Sachs than Anne Hathaway herself.

As she stepped out for the Michael Kors Collection Spring/Summer 23 show at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday, Hathaway surprised fans with a brand new eyebrow-grazing fringe, which she styled with a high pony tail. She wore a dark brown crocodile patent leather trench coat over a turtleneck knit dress and black pumps.

Miranda Priestly is eyeing her up and down in silent approval at this very moment.

The Andy Sachs-reminiscent look came courtesy of Hathaway’s longtime stylist, Erin Walsh, whose work with the 39-year-old mega-star has become somewhat legendary.

Hathaway has referenced Andy Sachs numerous times in recent years, with Hathaway going on a full blown style rampage while promoting her new series, We Crashed earlier this year. There was her Jackie Kennedy-inspired all-black Giorgio Armani ensemble, a slinky silver cut-out Valentino gown, and in perhaps her most iconic look, that Barbie-pink sequin Valentino mini. She simply never misses.

Of course, Hathaway has toyed with the iconic Sachs-inspired fringe before, but it hasn’t made an appearance in recent months. Well, until today that is—a fresh trim has done the ultimate trick in catapulting Hathaway back into her Devil Wears Prada era.

The Oscar winner is preparing for the release of her new film, Armageddon Time, set to drop at the end of October. After a raving reception at the Cannes Film Festival, Hathaway will no doubt be doing some serious rounds in the weeks leading to its worldwide premiere. This means we have a whole bunch more impeccable style moments from our favourite naughties queen. Watch this space…
