As the old adage goes, breaking up is hard to do. Thankfully, Adele is here to lead the way. The 30-year-old has broken her silence for the first time since she and husband Simon Konecki announced that they’re separating after seven years together.
No, not with an emotional open letter. Instead, returning to Instagram with a meme, the singer (real name Adele Adkins) poked fun at herself, reminding the world how she became the most relatable pop star on the music scene.
Adele shared a diptych of two moods: One where she’s clearly devastated and another from her and James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke installment where she cut sick with a Nicki Minaj rap song. “When you catch yourself in your feelings then you remember who you are,” read the caption above the photos.
Garnering more than 700K likes so far, the Hello hitmakers celebrity friends have flooded the post with supportive comments. Oprah simply said: “🏆🏆🏆” While British pop sensation Katy B weighed in with, “yes girl! 🙌🏻”
“Adele and her partner have separated,” the Grammy winner’s representative Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh said in a statement to the Associated Press confirming the split on April 20th.
“They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

Adele and entrepreneur-philanthropist Konecki, 44, have long stayed mum on the subject of their relationship. They welcomed their son Angelo in 2012 and confirmed she married Konecki when she won album of the year at the 2017 Grammys.
“Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it,” she said during her acceptance speech.
The private couple shares their time between London and Beverly Hills, where they bought a home in 2016. That same year she opened up to Vanity Fair about her bond with the “confident” and “perfect” Konecki for one of the first times, calling it “the most serious relationship I’ve ever been in.”
