Following a 40-year hiatus, the quartet will be embarking on a new journey. Aptly named ABBA Voyage, the reunion will entail both a brand new album and virtual concert starring the ‘Abbatars’ digital versions of the band from their hayday.

Between ‘74 – ‘83, ABBA were the undisputed dancing queens of the discotheque and one of the most commercially successful groups of all time. From their humble beginnings as contestants on the Eurovision Song Contest to the multi-award winning superstars we’ve all come to know and love, there is no question that their monumental career is rife with iconic moments.

Many will fondly remember the super troupers vivacious outfits — the original scandi trend setters. With looks including peplum bell bottoms and colossal platform shoes, it’s a style that has become ingrained into the fabric of our culture. While it was the very best style the 70’s had to offer, some outfits are still relevant today. And, while we’re not talking jumpsuits and capes, styles like overalls and bubble skirts are still pushing boundaries to this day.

As iconic as these outfits were, frontman Björn Ulvaeus (one of the ‘B’s), admitted that the unique and vibrant style that’s synonymous with the band was a result of Swedish tax laws at the time. Apparently, the laws permitted the cost of the costumes to be tax deductible if they were too outrageous to wear on the street. That explains a lot, right?
